Baby K's Birthday Party Cakes...

This was my very first time making a fondant cake. It turned out Ok (I think?). Here is a wonderful  fondant tutorial. It is definetely worth trying it! And, of course, you would save a lot of money doing it yourself.

This second cake I made for the party is a "surprise cake". I remember seeing some version of this growing up in my native South America. It is so easy to make, and a lot of fun for the kids. I baked a "box" cake. Then, cut up it open carefully on each side, and hid little kid toys inside tied to a ribbon or string. You can have as made as you want depending on the size of your cake. I attached pink string for the girls and blue for the boys surprises. Then just covere it with the frosting of your choice.
All the kids at the party loved it... Remember that you don't have to eat this cake (unless you really want to...;-) But it also makes a good play and smash cake for the kids...

Free Baby Shower Resources...

Lately, I have been in charge of the entertainment for a couple of baby showers. I have to honestly confess that sometimes I rather be in charge of the food and decoration. Sometimes I can get I bit overwhelmed by decision making process and the responsibility of making sure that I am not boring everyone to dead. So, in the process,  have come across some wonderful resources put together by some of you wonderful bloggers. Hey, just print and copy sounds great to me... Wish me good luck!

Pinatas!!!

Growing up in my native South America, pinatas have always been the tradition in every child's birthday party I went to. When my little one turned one, I decided to keep that tradition. I have such fond memories of how fun and exciting they were. I hope my little Kiki enjoys them as much as I did... Here are some great resources for pinatas:

Planning an owl party...

Believe it or not this is my very first time planning a birthday party for kids. I am supper excited! Since I like owls so much and my one year old is not old enough to pick her own theme yet, I got to pick.

I am a want to DIY everything person, but realistically speaking, I won't be able to do it ALL by myself even if I want to.

So far, I am very happy with how the invitations turned out, I used the Etsy shop Srapbook Style and printed them on my own. They have some beautiful designs for the little ones at very reasonable prices. I am happy with how they turned out. Take a look:

Here some of my sources of inspiration: Little owls birthday party via My good greetings and Owl 5th birthday party via Pizzazzerie (below)

I will be posting more pictures of my 1 year old owl party as I get things ready...
